ATRIDOX Active Ingredients
Doxycycline Hyclate (10%) is the active ingredient in ATRIDOX which is a water-soluble antibiotic that is used to treat a wide range of infections.
ATRIDOX Components
-
ATRIGEL Delivery System: Biodegradable polymer carrier that holds the medication within the periodontal pocket.
-
Doxycycline Hyclate (10%): A tetracycline antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis and suppresses periodontal pathogens.
Intended Use
ATRIDOX is used as an adjunct to scaling and root planing in the treatment of chronic periodontitis. It helps reduce subgingival bacteria within periodontal pockets and improves clinical attachment levels by targeting periodontal pathogens.
Expected Outcomes
When used with scaling and root planing, ATRIDOX can reduce probing pocket depths, decrease bacterial levels within periodontal pockets, and improve periodontal healing. Studies have shown improved clinical attachment levels when locally delivered doxycycline is used in nonsurgical periodontal therapy.
How does ATRIDOX work?
Doxycycline hyclate inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, preventing periodontal pathogens from multiplying within the periodontal pocket. ATRIDOX also has host-modulating properties that reduce collagen-destroying enzymes known as matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), helping slow periodontal tissue destruction and support periodontal healing.
